Making plans is a part of life, it’s a necessity actually without them our lives are kind of chaos. But as a Christian our plans must yield to His plans, we must always be willing to change them and basically go with whatever God calls us to do. I mean He is the ultimate planner everything in our lives is part of His plan, the Guy even planned out the creation of the Earth. The word “plans” is every where throughout scripture and every time we see it, it basically says surrender yours to Him. This got me thinking about how much we as a society always seem to have a “back up” plan “just in case”. Just in case of what…? God doesn’t come through?
You see every time we make these back up plans we are showing something about our faith. We are saying God I trust You, but just in case You don’t come through in the way I want You to, I’m just going to have this other option over here hidden in the corner, but yeah my trust is fully in You (sarcasm)… It doesn’t really work like that, and no it’s really not okay to have a back up plan. Sure it’s okay to save money in case you lose your job or something terrible happens, but if God were to ask you to donate all that money would you do it? If all you really do is prepare for the “just in case” failure, your most likely not going to accomplish what God truly wants you to. And usually His plan does not provide security or make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, no usually His plan requires you to feel a little uncomfortable. But time and time again throughout scripture He assures us that He is never far away.
“Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
“For the Lord Himself has said “I will never leave you, nor forsake you” Hebrews 13:5
I am so down with laying under the stars with you every night.
When everyone around you leaves you and forsakes you, when the very people who you call your friends or family leave you and forsake you, He will throw His arm around your shoulder for comfort. If you feel alone today, it doesn’t matter if you don’t want to tell anyone, He already knows. He knows your heart better than you do. There is a popular song lyric that we like to quote when things aren’t quite going our way “Have you ever felt alone in a crowded room”, if you have put your trust in The Lord that will never be true, for every step you take He takes it too. Even the ones you don’t mean to take, He will be there always more faithful than you. Wherever you end up, walk today knowing He is walking with you. Trust that He will provide, trust that wherever you are He has a path to follow, and trust that He loves you more than anything.
Walk with Jesus today.
